Calls the Buffalo Dream - frontCalls the Buffalo Dream - back
Many of the ceremonies of the seasons were done by the tribe or a society for all the people. But most of the people, the warriors and the hunters especially, found their own ways to honor and affect the world they lived in. Private dreams and visions were the guides that gave them their own rituals.

An important dream gives this hunter the ways he can make his medicine stronger. it shows him the honor wand, the shield face, and even the song that he will sing to call the buffalo to the territory that he may have a successful hunt. The seven buffalo painted on the robe across his favorite horses's back are a powerful number; the quilled wheels have buffalo dewclaw "rattles". And his prized buffalo horse was a treasure any warrior would envy. These were the very best, able not only to keep up with the running herd, but able to be guided by only his rider's knees and posture in the excitement of the hunt.
